Course Overview

Food establishments such as Food Processing Establishments, Coldstores, Canteens, Caterers, Food courts, and Restaurants are required to have a Food Hygiene Officer (FHO). To become qualified as an FHO, the designated staff member must complete the WSQ Food Safety Course Level 3.

The FHO serves as supervisory personnel responsible for assisting the licensee in implementing, monitoring, and maintaining a proper food safety system. They conduct regular inspections, educate, and remind food handlers to adhere to good food safety practices and personal hygiene during food preparation.

Who Should Attend

• Food Hygiene Officer (FHO) such as a chief chef, sous chef, restaurant manager, operations manager, or supervisor who help owners or licensees oversee and enhance the standard of hygiene and sanitation in their premises • Learners should have prior knowledge in auditing. Minimum Entry Requirement/ Pre-requisite • GCE N Level pass in English (Grade D and above) or equivalent, or WSQ Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 4 and above • Participants should have the ability to speak, read and write in simple English • Any Food Safety Management System e.g. SS444, SS590, ISO22000, FSSC22000 etc. Internal/ Lead Auditor Certificate

Course Content

  • The Assessment Only Pathway (AOP) is a training option offered by SSG which allows individuals to obtain WSQ qualification by only undergoing the assessment without attending training.
  • Acceptable documentation could include any Food Safety Management System e.g. SS444, SS590, ISO22000, FSSC22000 etc. Internal/ Lead Auditor Certificate, reflecting that the individual who is confident of completing the assessments without going through the WSQ Food Safety Course Level 3.

Statement of Attainment will be awarded for participants who are competent

Note: Learners will not receive training grants from SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) in the event they fail the assessment and have to re-take the same course again.
